I joined buy Design over four years ago and manage all aspects of the sawmill. I liaise with architects, builders and designers, providing them with a bespoke cutting service in the sawmill for a wide range of projects. The Wood-Mizer saw I use is extremely flexible and is capable of cutting timber from 2mm thickness up to a maximum cut of 60 cms. I have cut timber for new build, historic homes, conservatory companies, bridge builders amongst others. There are more and more people specifying home-grown timber but don’t know where to find it. We are trying to put the two together. I enjoy working with our customers, advising them on the ideal species of timber to use for a given project whether it is indoors or outdoors. We always have extensive stocks of timber ready cut into planks in the stackyard so I can show the customer actual examples of the timber to help their decision making. This is important if the customer has expressed a preference for timber to have light, dark or heavy colour or grain characteristics. They can see immediately what the timber looks like and can buy with confidence.
